Medium Quazar Blue- 1997 Trans Am LT1
lt1 color
Hey fellas, need a lil help here. I just recently bought my second Trans Am. Its a 97 LT-1 T-Top car, 63000 miles, loaded, 1 owner, garage kept... very nice car. Heres my predicament... Im told its a rare color, although Im not sure what its called. All i can tell you is its some sort of mettalic blue (ill try to attach a picture my friend took at the lot). If anyone could tell me what the color is called and how many were made that would be great. Another question that ill throw out there real quick... other than a few minor mods this ones staying mostly stock but...optispark.... is there a solution to the stock unit and water faliure? any aftermarket distributers or anything of that sort? thanks again. Later guys.

what's the RPO color code? Should be a sticker on the inside door jam of the drivers door or in the glove box. As for the Optispark... yeah could retrofit a distributorless ignition with a huge hassle and expense... or retrofit coil packs like the LS1. Don't waste your time on the MSD optispark... it's the same thing only painted orange and black and costs twice as much. The last time I replaced mine. I put a small smear of RTV ultrablack sealant around where the cap and distributor meet... which basically makes it a totally sealed unit now. The only place for water inflitration now is where the cam pin inserts into the distributor. I don't think that even goes into the distributor. It's just a drive gear. To be on the safe side... perhaps a dab of sealant or place a grommet inbetween it and the timing cover. I've had mine sealed now for over 30k miles and still going strong!
