    LT1 cam selection

I just bought a complete LT1 yesterday, I'm not too familiar with these motors as I own mostly LS1's but I'm sure the basic principle is the same for both. Anyway, what would be a great cam to run in a mostly stock LT1? I want the most power with a nice choppy idle, this motor will be mated to a T-56. Is the LT1 hot cam worth the money? Thanks

Alot of people run a CC306 cam... seems to be about the limit with stock heads. That or the GM 847

who makes the CC306 cam? I called the comp cams tech line yesterday and he gave me a 228 / 230 on a 112 LSA. Sounds like a good size one but I was wondering if the valve springs had to be changed on a LT1 with a cam install?

absolutely. Also, new pushrods, seals, roller rockers, and guideplates are all a good idea.

thanks, I'm pulling the valvesprings today. Went to the local hot rod store and picked up a set of comp cams valve springs, seals and retainers.

    I put a 228-236 / 571 -114ls cam with 1.6rr and I put down 331rwhp and I am a a4. I also passed smog in California with this cam.

Car ran 12's all day long with just a cam.
