    LT1 A/C Problems

any one on hear an a/c tech!!!....I have a 94 lt1 camaro..when I am driving down the road I can hear and feel my a/c cylce on and off...I have checked the hi and low pressure both are at normal psi...I also replaced the filter drier and the expansion valve...(I pulled a vacuum for two-three hours after replacing these parts) the a/c is cold it just seems to cycle on/off way to often probably every minute or so..but in never seems to lose any coldness from the vents. is this normal? I did put UV dye in for leak detection.. could the UV dye in the system cause this problem?

I'm not an A/C tech, but is the evaporator icing up? Do you leave a puddle of condensation when parked after running the A/C? If not maybe your condensor air box has a plugged drain. This type of problem is more common in high humidity areas.

yea it tends to leave a big puddle underneath the car. it looks to be the low side condesating alot under the hood. is ther an easy way to check the evaporator for icing? how do u check the condensor air box drain?

You're good if it drips consistently.

well yesterday on the way home from work I stopped at the gym and it didnt seem to drip hardly at all if any, you my be right about the evaporator icing up do I have to take the dash apart to check? I think it left the big puddle the day it was really humid...which should be normal.

I've never had a reason to look for mine. I'm sure its nothing more than a tube or nipple molded into the bottom of the airbox. It should be visible from the bottom.

From what I have been told they shouldn't cycle too frequently. It should cycle on for at least 30seconds to one minute after the car is warm and the interior cooled. it should stay off for a quater of that time depending on fan speed and if the vents are drawing from inside the car or out side. if the interior is hot and car cool it should cycle longer.
