    low oil pressure

ok i have a 94 trans am and i am getting a very low reading ONLY after the car is warmed up. when i first start her up i get anywhere between 40-45 on the dummy gauge. Idles at 40, until like i said she gets warmed up. After which it idles below 20, actually around 12-14. once i accelerate it jumps up to 30, but that's as high as she gets. when i let off the gas she drops below 20 again, but not in the red line. Is my pump going out? Am i asking for trouble if i continue to drive her like this. any help would be appreciated thanks.

my oil sending unit just went out and my pressure was way up there when i would start the car then around 40 warmed up, then got to around 20 or below after about 30 mins of driving then my car lost all oil pressure and it died. could check that, it was around $20 or so.

another thing to consider...what grade oil are you using? a few years ago i had a 3.4 camaro. i was using 5W-30 and on hot summer days my oil pressure dropped really low and my check gauges light even came on. i switched to 10W-30 and i havent had that problem since.
