    Heads/lt4 question

I'll be goin with Elliot on a head/cam package, but I decided I wanted to send him brand new LT4 heads to work on instead of some used pair of LT1s... I compiled a part list, can anyone look it over and make sure I'm not missing anything? All he needs are the actual heads, but I have to worry about what I need for the installation when they come back.

    2 LT4 Cylinder Heads P/N 12363287
    1 Intake Manifold P/N 12550630
    2 Head Gaskets P/N 12551488
    2 Intake Gaskets P/N 12367777
    1 Front Timing Cover Gasket P/N 10128293
    1 Water Pump Seal P/N 10217886
    1 Front Crankshaft Seal P/N 10128316
    1 Oil Pan Gasket P/N 10108676
    2 Valve Cover Gaskets P/N 10108625
    2 Exhaust Gaskets P/N 12552470
    1 Distributor Seal(1995-1997 cars) P/N 12552428,
    1 "Extreme Duty LT1/LT4" timing chain kit P/N 12370835
    1 LT4 Knock Module P/N 16214681

My only other question is will the LT4 heads and their exhuast manifolds bolt onto my SLP LT1 Shortube headers ok? Or do I now need to find LT4 headers... ?:-/

PS Total cost for parts so far $2,056.36 which includes 2 LT4 heads minus a manifold which I can't find on the gm website for some reason

"Should have" been replaced when I bought the car as part of the deal 3 years ago (little less then 20k miles ago), I say should becaue he also said he replaced the window motors but they ended up being 1996 stock when the mech pulled 2 rust balls out to replace them

Why on earth would you spend the money on brand new LT4 heads The difference would be minimal in the end... But I guess if you just want to tell people you've got LT4 heads... go for it. And IMO, you usually want the same guy that is porting your heads to do the valvejob.

run cometic gaskets (i cant spell and to lazy to look it up) then trash the gear driven WP for a EWP , then you can save major money on the timing chain. also not have to worry about losing the extra horses the wp saps. LT4 knock module is worthless. i saw no less retard than with my LT1 sensor. and if you do the module you will have to change the knock sensor as well. i also agre with the other guy about the lt4 heads , just send your stock lt1 and save the cash from the lt4's and the lt4 intake you are looking for that they dont make anymore. and buy a nitrous kit

Cant send mine, and dont trust buying some douche's use heads. And new ones arent any more expensive as new lt1's, and i can sell the components for some cash back such as the valves etc, whatever is going to be replaced.

elliotts the man i'm going to, so i assume the valve job is included in the complete rebuild/porting process, no?

Used LT1 heads are a dime a dozen on ebay, and can be pressure tested, and if they're done right, the decks will be checked and machined as necessary anyway.

I have to agree from experience. Testing a pair of heads is ultra cheap. Unless you use AFR's "LT4" head that is a modified casting, you'll only notice another 5hp or so at the wheels. For the price difference, you could get something else that will add a lot more power, like nitrous.

    Yo

About the headers you can use your slp shorties with those heads they will bolt on cause thats what I have but if you can get some Pacesetter longtubes then they will flow alot more air.

This really isnt hard. Buy pre made mandrel bends from someone like dynatech, buy some bullet cats, and have one made.

Exactly, Gm quit making the intakes and if you do find one it will be $600 or more. I saw one one on ebay go for close to $800.
