Smile Are headers for LT1's worth it?`

Hello, I was wondering what are the best headers (brand and type) on the market are for LT1 Z28's? Also do they really as much power as some say? Or worth the blood, sweat and tears installing them. Do the stock LT1 exaust manfoilds well compared to for example some BBK shortys?
Also has anyone noticed a +/- in MPG, after installing headers?

long tubes are the way to go!!

but if you are going to get another header besides a long tube either go with as&m or macs

never get shortys. or mid tubes. get only long tubes. you should get a mileage increase in normal conditions. (not rippin').

They're just as good as long tubes... it's been dyno proven. And without the ground clearance issues.

stepped stainless steel. high velocity merge collectors. $550 shipped.

30+rwhp increase. they are AWESOME!!!! install sucked out loud, but that is expected.....with any brand header. whatever you do.....dont believe that shite about going from the top. the header WILL fit through the bottom. they WILL!!!!!!!!!!!

    Smile Thanks guys!!!

Thanks for all the info. On my ret 94 Z28 A4 I was running BBK shortys. I diden't know a hole lot about headers when I installed them and know they are crap compared to some good long tubes huh? I was also running bigger down pipes and 3 inch stright off pipe then 3 inch mandrel bent cat back with flowmaster muffler.
On my new 94 Z28 A4 with 52K mi and is 100% stock I want to do some mods to it but don't want to put my bBk's back on. I do how ever have the following parts to install from my ret. 94. A BBK 58mm throttle body/w ported to match bigger TB, Granitelli mass air sensor/w cold air tuning, K/N FIPK gen II cold air system, ceramic intake elbow, MSD6AL ignition box, MSD Blaster coil, volt booster, hi flow fuel pump(rated up 700hp) MAF tuning box, 160 thermostat/w man fan switch, TCI 2600 TQ, Jegster tq arm/w pinion adjustment, NX wet 150 shot basic fogger kit, some more.
But this time I want to have my PCM custom tune. Does anyone have any suggestions? If so that would be great. Thanks.

have fun with the install though, make sure you have a new set of plugs because you will probably break off more than one trying to do the install. PITA for an LT1 to install them.
