    Going catless?

Thinking of cutting out my car and putting in a straight piece of pipe, any thing i need to know about doing it or anything i might be messing up when i do it or have it done, i plan to leave it open headers for a little while for shits and giggles and to go to work like that, anyway let me know what i need to go abouts doing it.

I had an offroad pipe on my car for all of a couple days. The smell was annoying... And even with the full blockoff plate in the borla, it was still loud. The sound of the whole car (with headers) got more "tinny" without a cat... more hollow I suppose. With just open headers your car will be annoyingly loud. If you value your hearing any, I wouldnt leave it like that for long. And you'll also garner the attention of any law enforcement personnel that you pass within a quarter mile of, even at part throttle.

With your single cat car though, you wont hurt anything, and you wont need to mess with anything else. Might lose some torque down low with such a reduction in backpressure, might gain a couple horsepower up top, but thats about it.

Well the car has a full cat back exhaust on it, it only has the cat behind the headers on it anyway. The guy before me cut the other one out when he put the magnaflow catback exhaust in the car. So its already loud, i was just curious if it was really worth while since i have access to the stuff to do it right now. Not exactly a expensive mod.

was looking for power gain out of it, the magnaflows are plenty loud.

not worth the power gain if any. Get something else for power, manifold, intake, throttle body, LT4 HEADS, CAM

Power gains are minimal. Totally not worth it IMO for what you give up: bit of low end torque, not as good sounding exhaust, loud as hell, smells like shit.

Seeing how you are in NC you better have a "buddy" that can do your state inspection. NC has gotten pretty strick on emissions.
