finally started on my intake mani gasket replacement.

so my car has sat since november with the waterpump out of it and most of the front pulled apart. i started on clearing up lines, hoses and wires to get the intake off.... i'm stuck cause i don't have a fuel line disconnect tool.

i have no idea where half of the nuts, bolts, washers and lines go already... i'm fucked! lol

i should have just dropped it off somewhere

You can also rent it if you need it. I did mine 2x. If you need help getting it back together everyone here would be able to help. Next time take pictures and label things. Helped me alot.

is it the quick disconnect with the prongs inside it? If so you can get it with 2 small flathead screwdrivers. Push back on the connector and slip the screwdrivers in there to depress the prongs and it'll come right out. Might take a few minutes until you get the hang of it but I never use the quick disconnects on mine....and I even have a set. By the time I've got the tools out and all that I could've already had it off with screwdrivers.

i ended up getting the tool on my way home from work today... i THOUGHT it was the 3/8ths and i spent a good 10 mins swearing while trying to get it to disconnect.. then i used the 5/16ths and it came off in 3 seconds.... doh!

got the intake off and the gasket area cleaned tonight...

in the motor cleaning the old gasket off the rear:

intake is nice and clean for 15+ years old, this is right after i pulled it off!!!

gas or kerosene will work fine.

And as for it being clean, that's what happens when you use good oil and change it on schedule. You'd be amazed at how many people dont understand that.
