engine bucking @ high end torque

hey guys i got a question for ya'll. I got a '94 Firebird Formula 350 engine with 89k miles on it. I frequently drive it back and forth from Tennessee to Florida and its held up so far. This past trip i noticed something wrong whenever i would punch the gas. This only happens when i'm going 60mph and up when i punch the gas to change lanes or just to speed up, instead of getting the high end torque power the engine just bucks and i have to back off the pedal and allow it to slowly accelerate but for some reason it won't get to the power the car has. It almost seems like a cylinder misfire which leads me to think it could be a spark plug or spark plug wire since the car is around those miles and the plugs and wires have never been replaced.

Otherwise i have no idea what it could be...any thoughts would be appreciated.

    Thanks Guys!

Well, since they are the original plugs and wires, go ahead and change them and see if that doesn't help. If it doesn't, then it is obviously something else. Might be optispark or fuel filter.

yeah i had planned on replacing the plugs and wires on it sometime but i just had never gotten around to it. the water pump has never given me anyproblem, i recently had the radiator replaced along with the thermostat in it but the pump itself has never had any problem. i'm hoping the spark plugs and wires are the only problem but wouldn't it be bucking even at the low end rpm?

no, no rev limiter, it actually has started to do it on the law end rpms and even has trouble starting sometimes. the only limit it has on it is the 110 mph governed speed limiter. I was told it could be either the coil packs, spark plugs, or wires.

Sounds to me like you just need a good 'ole tune-up. The original plugs and wires don't go that far in an LT motor that has been driven somewhat hard, heat being the #1 reason for failure. Make sure you get a good set of plugs like NGK's TR55 along with quality wires.

yeah sounds good , i gotta get it checked out on monday by some guy cuz i'm gonna b late already for gettin back up to TN so he'll look it over, but its prolly gonna be the spark plugs and wires i'll have em put some platinum plugs in there and some good old quality wires. i really need to have it checked out from front to back when i get enough $$$

thanks alot guys, i only wish it was a problem that i coulda fixed myself but with that LT1 to get to those plugs and wires is a heck of a job and i aint got time for it...

    thanks alot guys!
    i appreciate it.
