just get a mirror and a flash light so you can see behind. It should be easy to do. Just in a awkward spot but isn't 90% of working on an engine, dealing with components that you can see but you just cant't get a wrench on it? haha

That percentage is more like 99.5% for an LT1 F body.

hmmmm....first mistake is the chiltons manual, not as bad as the haynes, but still not the greatest. Take a look at the Helm manual...I believe they are the best. As for replacing the EGR, not too bad, just takes some time as it is difficult to reach.

I replaced mine a month ago....with nothing but a swivel-headed ratchet and patience. It isn't difficult...just two bolts. Be careful not to break the inlet tube when "working" it off of the EGR valve though.... The whole job took 15 minutes!

glad to know it can be done. I was out in the garage with the Chiltons and I can see it from either side, but no clue how to get at the nuts. The swivel ratchet sounds about right, as does using a mirror. Course I better go get a gasket before I try to take it off. Any secrets to removing the old gasket completely?

i just changed mine and i used a 13 mm box ratchet wrench. i pulled my egr out easy and didn't damage the gasket. took about 10 or 15mins to change.
