converting lt1 ecu to Ls1 ecu?
Alright the guys Im dealing with at the dyno says the Ls1 ecu is xxxx faster and alot more tuneable, they are looking into seeing what it would take to convert. But maybe you guys know. Would the Lt1 wiring harness work? We would like to get rid of the Opti and go to a Ls2 coil setup. If I gotta re-wire the whole car n stuff its not worth it to me. But If its a pretty basic swap were all in.
Anyone ever attempt?

a guy on tech did it. he used harness from a ls1, i think a front cover from a vortec motor. i dont see it bein a problem since the two motors are similar. its the same prinicple as using an aftermarket system. biggest thing is finding a cam sensor and crank sensor to work and their values

Have you thought about maybe switching to a stand alone?
I know with megasquirt you can get rid of the opti.
I will be doing this in the next few weeks.

I have a Megasquirt on my 240, Its a Really awesome Stand Alone, The only Problem is Its not Emissions Legal, Were Looking at making a conversion with it still being legal But yet very Tune-able. Thats Why Were looking into the Ls1 ECU.
Were Looking into maybe making a ls1 ECU and making a Wiring harness for our Propane cars So they also would pass Emissions and We can Still Tune The car as a Standalone.
From the way I understand it a Ls1 Computer You can turn what ever you want on and off, So its Ideal for getting threw the Government crap and Still making the Offroad capabilities.
But then Again it may be a waste of time lol IDK.

Plenty of guys have tuned wild combinations with the factory LT1 ECU, including turbos, blowers, and all sorts of heads/cam combos. If they can do it, why can't your tuner?

My Tuner def can tune the Lt1 ecu no problem. The Problem with the Lt1 ecu is its processer speed is as slow as an average honda, If you have a quick reving High hp built motor. They are finding out that the motor is actually out running the ecu so it does not get as good of tune as its capable of. Its just 1 of the problems of why the Lt1 guys cant make as much power as the ls1 guys.
But Like I said, I was hoping it was just a basic swap, Its not my car its going on so Im not going to spend xxx amount of hours on switching wiring harnesses.

Yea, for the same amount of work why not just go with the megasquirt? You can get rid of the opti that way too.
