that's a tough one.....I would never recommend anyone put money into the stock 10 bolt. They're a very weak unit and most likely will pop at some point and that money is down the tubes.

Addressing a couple posts in this thread. The 10 bolt typically holds together just fine with street tires and near stock power levels for street driving. Now... take it to the strip or put sticky tires on, and it's a crapshoot for sure.

As for the opti. They work just fine on most cars, and I wouldnt look to do anything to it if it is working properly. Dont mess with it until you have an issue. And if the car is going to stay remotely stock, I wouldnt spend a bunch of money upgrading.

Headers & exhaust ain't nothing like the sound of a sweet LT1 or LS1 whenever I drove my blue 94 Trans Am I cared less about gas prices,I would jump out my car & just let it run just to hear ppl say "man that thing sounds good, what you got in there? Same story with my black 99 Trans Am,now if I can only get my pewter 2000 t/a to sound like that LoL!

Cutout! Loud when you want it to be and it's the best catback for the money. Cheap and very fun.

My favorite mod was the exaust. Get a catback or headers and catback depending on your budget. Can get whatever one sounds best to you but I liked it because it's a mod you notice eveytime you get in the car and drive. The CAI and other mods I did to my suspension were great but the exhaust will always be my favorite 1st mod to a V8 car. For my LS1 I got the SLP powerflo and QTP Lt's and ORY and loved it. Even my 93 5.0 I have the 1st thing I did was get a set of flowmasters.
