    bad egr?

About a week ago while driving down the interstate my T/A passenger compartment began to fill with the odor of pure gasoline fumes. I have also noticed a decent drop in my fuel mileage over the past week or so. After doing some digging Ive come to the conclusion that it may be a bad egr valve. Just wondering if anyone has had the same issue or if anyone has any input to what may be causing the problem.

Pure gasoline sounds more like a fuel leak. I would get that fixed asap. If you check the fuel pressure it will probably be low.

yeah the EGR only recurculates exhuat gas back into the intake. It sounds like a fuel leak somewhere. check places like the fuel filter, fuel rails and all the lines.

this could also be a fuel mixture issue. check you intake elbow (look for any cracks or tears) for vacuum leaks or listen for any other obvious vacuum leaks. if there is one, your o2 sensors are gonna read way lean because of the extra un-metered air and in turn will dump fuel to compensate. and with your drop in gas mileage, im guess this is a good place to start looking.
