Advice on building a 383 LT1
Coming into a lot of money for my 21st birthday, and I'd like another F-body. I want to build a 383 Stroker LT1 pushing around 500hp. Any brands, suggestions on parts needed, and any advice would be tremendously appreciated. Thanks, guys.

Look into a 383 stroker kit from Lunati or someplace like that. Takes out the hassle of mixing-and-matching parts.

Well I already know to go with a lunati stroker set-up, I was curious about what heads to match, Cam, Intake, go with a carb set up or leave it as it is? I was looking for more info on what anyone here has personally used or recommend. Sorry if I was a little vague.

theres no need to say i'm sorry. its the internet be as rude as you feel like, i do lol. ok back to your car. what are your goals? et you shooting for or just to beat stock vettes and such? maybe some auto cross in the future or just a street car that will rip a few grills out of other cars? you can spend a small fortune or keep it super cheap with different goals.
take me for example , i wanted to run 9's in the 1/4, not 9.99 either and keep it a 6 speed with 23 degree heads and a HR cam. so needless to say i have spent a nice amount of money so far. its all in what you want and can afford.

This will be a 2nd car, more for going to car shows, taking out my girl on friday/saturday nights, and of course still being able to walk over other vehicles. I'll be living in a higher end part of town, full of Lambo's, Ferrari's and Aston Martin's so it will be very important that I can atleast keep up if not emberass cars like that. Hope that clears things up a bit more.

ok 500 na flywheel with a small shot sound good to you? for a total of 600 or 625 flywheel hp? there are a few sponsers on here that offer good cam and head setups that will gross 500 pretty easy. you can use a compstar bottom end, its better than eagle , little below lunati. it will hold well over 500hp and not kill the piggy bank. also i would stay with fuel injection, easier to get adead on tune that will adjust to changing climates.

Alright everything has been very helpful thus far. Now, intake manifolds are where I haven't been very successful in my searching. Any ideas and or suggestions would be great. As for the nitrous, I feel it would be a bit too much for what I'm doing and I personally don't believe in it either, but something to keep in mind regardless.

as far as intakes go you don't many choices. you can go to a typical SBC intake and have it worked over to work on a LT1 with a sheet metal elbow , to allow our TB's to work on it. edelbrock makes a lt1/lt4 intake but it has yet to be proven as being worth a crap. there are guys making over 450rwhp with a ported factory lt1 intake. so i wouldn't do anything but get the factory one ported if you go on the wild side a little.

A question about suspension. Am I going to need to put alot of money into the suspension to keep this bad boy planted to the ground, or just a few things here and there? Lower control arms, subframes, shocks/springs?

subframes is a must. i went with hal 12 ways , over kill in some peoples eyes. if it is going to stay on the street and just be for fun, i'd say just work on putting new bushings everywhere.

All input is welcome. I checked out moser the other day, they will be my first choice. Won't have any updates until mid to late July, but I am going to look at a 1997 Trans Am on thursday so wish me luck!
