I bought the summit opti but I don't have it in the car yet so I can't give an answer to if it works or not yet. I also bought the pro form rockers but again the engine is not back in the car yet. I have heard nothing but good things out of people that buy the comp pro mags but with my luck it dose not matter what I buy something will break. lol So, I have come to the conclusion that I am just not going to spend the extra money anymore to make sure shit wont break because most of the time it does anyway. Thats just me though. No one ever belives me when I say it but I am A Cursed man!!! I used to buy the best of the best of the best and shit still breaks and I am broke after. Call the manufactures and I get the same BS so I'll save the money and be able to fix it when it happens. lol

I bought an MSD cap and rotor to go on my GM opti.
The rotor conductor is attached with machine screws and not melted plastic bosses. Also, the cap has an O-Ring type seal to help keep the guts dry.
I have been very happy with the results.

I have went through several GM, Autozone optis. Just switched to an Acell (special ordered through AutoZone) about a year ago. Have not had any issue since.
I do not think I payed that much at AutoZone for it though, deffinetly shop around.

83 Z28 new project- 98 Formula WS7-sold:(
I had the exactly the opposite issues. I tried a few accels and msd's in the past and all failed within a year. I have bought I think like four remans now through gm and loctite the rotor bolts, then no problems since on any of them. I also have comp pro mags on my bro in laws lt1 and they are really loud, like a sewing machine on steroids. He said he may change out for some proforms. The canton covers may make the soud louder, but not really sure about that.

Really sounds like there is no guaranteed solutions. Its a bad design and its hit or miss if the optical sensor will work out of the box

I would say that most of the time people install an opti and the new one fails, it's because something else is also wrong that wasnt addressed, or it was installed incorrectly.

Went with the Acell opti myself and have had no problems with it to date.
