    95Z slow to start

The motor will turn over fine but takes 3 seconds or more before it will start. When I turn the key on I can hear the fuel pump run. Letting the fuel pump run a while before turning the key to start does not seem to help. Any ideas on what to check? Thanks

check fuel pressure. Pump could be running, but it might be getting lazy.

Is it missing slightly? any at all? My car sent a code today, P1361 and its been slow to start up to lately. And doggie on the highways.. not all the power there. And when it started prior to today, didnt start up fast and hard like Varroom!.. Usually it kicks it pretty hard in the mornings.. But now I had to limp the car home. And it died in the driveway. It started back up.. and I got it parked properly.. so I know its not the fuel pump.. this is ignition issues.

A good way to tell if its an ignition problem or missing so slightly that you cant feel it at idle,is to get on the highway, and do about 55 in high gear and do a moderate acceleration.. Like enough to where its pulling fairly hard but not downshifting.. And pay close attention to the torque. If you feel it slightly jerking, its not the road.. its your ignition misfiring.

Thanks for the suggestions. The car seems to run fine once it starts. Full throttle acceralation is good. If it was a lazy fuel pump or plugged filter wouldn't it show up under hard acceleration? I don't notice any misfireing.

If your not getting enough current to the spark plugs, then it could cause it to be slow to fire up. So, if no SES, then can check for high resistance plug wires, dirty spark plugs, dirty IAC valve, or maybe a carbon infested engine.

Theres a chance your opti is going bad. I just replaced one on my brother in laws car with the same symptoms. Slow start, lack of power especially on top, and random misfires.
