    94 Z starting issue

My boy has an 94 Z. The other day he said it would not start. The security light was flashing and the car would not crank. I was not here so I did not see what was done or anything. Do you think it would be ign. switch related or what? Any help would be great. It has started since then. Thanks

The first thing I would check is the battery and the cables.

You think it would be battery related? Like I said the security light was flashing and the car made not sounds when he turned the key ( no clicking or anything ).

It has only done it the one time. The security light was on, the car would not make a sound when you turn the key. Has anyone had this happen? Seems to be security system related but hoped someone would have some input.
    Thanks

That means the security system was tripped somehow. And when the security light comes on, the car will not start. I think you have to wait 2 minutes before trying to start it again. Mine did that about the same time the starter went out on mine. (Not syaing its realted or anything). But when I changed the starter, I've never had a problem since. The security light is still on til this day, but it starts everytime.
Some relate the 'security light' and no starting problem to a dirty key, which sends low signal to the ignition. I still haven't figured out why my security light is still on though.

When you say a dirty key how do you have to clean it? Or is it more the ohm res. that the key has? Best way to clean?

my 94 camaro did it, turned out to be the ignition switch on the bottom of the column, the one that the key acctually works.

Probably a VATS issue if its blinking...check the key pellet see if its clean, same for the key hole. if its gritty it wont read the resistance correctly, and it has to be +/-10% i believe.

do the obvious battery cable connection tests, clean the grounds and make sure enough juice is getting through the system... i had a semirelated issue that was a combination of a bad BCM aggitated by low connection that was multiplied in cold weather (below or near freezing)... but it ended up being a stuck relay in the BCM... i swapped BCM's and havent had a single problem since even in 10 degree cold starts.
