    Are you tinted?

I was looking at getting the windows tinted in the Trans Am. I was wondering who all has it, and if you had it professionally done or did it yourself? If so how much did you pay etc. What tint level did you do.

I once had a blazer and it had factory tint on it and one day i got the bright idea to put limo tint on over that. When it was all said and done you could not see in the windows nor see out of them at nighttime.... lol

I've got 13% on mine and I'm going to have 5% put on when I get around to it. I'm getting mine done professionally done but I know the guy so he cuts me killer deals.

I have it professionally done , and don't remember what i pay, but its
worth it to me to have it done right and a guarantee.

Mine had some tint on windows when I bought it. (Just the lower portion of the hatch is tinted. Maybe that's a good way to avoid losing important visibility in low-light conditions.) I haven't had any tint added, but I should. It's hot and sunny too much here. One question I have is the legality of driving a tinted car (for visiting, not residence) into a state where that amount of tint is forbidden.

I haven't owned a vehicle without tint. Do it, and make sure the pro doing it, is reputable and uses the best tint. Do it once and do it right.

5% on the rear window, 20% on the front two.

I would NEVER try to do it myself. $140 for the car isn't bad, and well worth it so it looks good.

Yeah but I've seen alot of bad work done by the pro's

    http://www.tintdude.com/forum/index.php

Not only that but if you do it yourself you can use the finest tint money can buy

Some pro shops use cheap foreign tint from china which blue's and bubbles sometimes within week's of being put on "At the very least find out what "Brand of tint the shop is using,
3M and LLumar both make quality tint films

I got mine tinted by a professional, and have not regretted it one day. My '98 was tinted professionally and never bubbled, peeled or discolored, so, with that in mind, I got my 2000 tinted professionally as well, but only what is legal. My wife has a '98 Camaro and got stopped because the side tint was one step past legal. They told her the next time they saw her, she better have had it replaced or they would ticket her. I got the sides replaced professionally for $65 and even though I pride myself in doing things on my car "myself", this is one of the things I don't try to do. Professional installation carries a "warranty" and it's usually lifetime. Can't beat that. Doing it yourself would mean buying the tint, cleaning agents, squeegies, razor knife etc. I prefer letting someone do it who does it day in and day out and has all the tools associated with it along with a guarantee.....

35% is the darkest tint that is legal in alabama, therefore that's what the t/a and monte carlo have. both cars have a black interior so it makes the tint look darker and we have been stopped in the t/a and the state troopers always look surprised when their meters say that the tint is legal.

If I remember right 35 on the back and 45 on the front is legal in Arknansas. Mine has 5 all the way around. Let a pro do it. But make sure you clean your car really well , esp the fuzzies at the btm of the window. Any lint or anything like that will stick to the tint as they are putting it on.

anyone ever have to get their back tint replaced? I am afraid that it will mess up the defroster lines. my tint has slightly purpled... i bought the car with it on.

Professionaly done by reputable shop my cousin has used before. Recommend dong the same. In Nebraska 28 is darkest possible on the side windows (I think, was a couple of weeks ago so I may be off.. just what I seem to remember), and 20 on the back. Not sure about front. I got what's called 20-all. Technically illegal on the sides but the guy didn't think I'd get too much fuzz.. Didn't do anything on the front but may do so later.

Tint is a requirement IMO on these cars. It just adds to its badass look.

I am tinted...it came with the car when I bought it, but I tint every car that I buy and have it done pro-style. It's cheap enuff for me to pay and let them worry bout the hassle.
