WS6 bumper ...What material is it made from!?

Hi Guys...,

I have another thread on the go 'cos of a lil crash i had a few days ago on where to source a replacement bumper cover...but on further inspection i am more than sure it is repairable to as new condition. The biggest issue will be a split right underneath which i imagine will need welding.

My question is not where or how... but can anybody confirm for sure the material it is made from is ABS ?! I imagine it would be and the bodyshop i am planning to use would like to know for sure before proceeding with any repairs.

I'm not sure what the exact composition is. However, most auto-body supply stores sell a bumper repair kit that includes the correct bonding and filling agents to repair holes and tears.

Any bumper can be welded with the special soldering iron and black plastic strips you just use a screen on the inside for support. Also 3M and SEM make a 2 part glue you can buy at any autoparts store and use it with a 2 piston caulking gun. I have used both on my TA.
If the shop can't tell you right up front that they can fix it and start asking what the bumper is made out of you may wanna look elseware. Omly body kit bumpers are made of fiberglass or other materials all factory bumpers from gm are the same. It's a poly material.

The bumper is made of thermoplastic polyurethane resin of some sort.

i just got the 3M glue......the gun and the glue were over a 100$......hope it turns out good
