SFC -
1. Stiffens the overall structure, which allows the suspension and sway bars to work better. It becomes more rigid with less flex and looseness.
2. It will stop flexing of Unibody and you'll have less squeaks and rattles down the road.
The Gears only give you .1 in the quarter mile cost a lot more. Plus you'll want to correct your Speedo error. Dealership $150. Hypertek $450 .... But, with the Hypertek you can do some basic tuning and take out limitter and such as well.
$1000 for gears $200 for SFC ... Go SFC then Gears.
I'd almost go for a rt rear air bag before gears knowing what I know now.Last edited by Mecinoid; 05-31-2007 at 12:07 AM.

they sell the 3.73 gear on ebay for like 125.00 dollars how did you get 1,000.00 just to put a 3.73 gear in, and i am an automatic.

SFC's
Gears with install kit are ~$400 plus then you have to pay someone to install them unless you can do it yourself. Figure probably a couple hundred to install. Then you would probably want to upgrade the cover to include the stud girdles so that's a couple hundred. It adds up quick. After all that is said and done you just put a huge chunk of change into a 10 bolt that you're gonna explode at some point anyhow.

$250 Gears.... Good price $250 for install by good mechanic ... no whine setup right with bearing check/crush. Then Hypertek $450, add tax plus you might want a girdle with our rear end to strengthen $150.
All end up being around ~ $1000
You can eBay and risk it for $125 and $150 for dealer to do a one time CPU flash. However, you won't get them to lose the speed limitter etc....
I guess if you know how and have the tools (dial indicator-mag base, lift, air compressor 300lbs of torque) you could do it.
It's just cheaper and better to have someone else set them up in the long run.
I can have rear gear done for $450 including parts .... I already have a hypertek so I can adjust for gears, tires, gas, limitter, etc....
Good luck.Last edited by Mecinoid; 05-31-2007 at 12:20 AM.

Eventully your going to want to do both but protect your car by getting some SFCs then move onto gears I have an A4 that had 3.42s stock and I went up to 3.73s and it was a world of difference and can knock off more then just .1 off of your 1/4 time my friend got .3 ta .4 on the three runs he made so gears are an ez thing to get your car moving faster.
