    What to replace my engine with if its dead?

    So if my engine is dead, whats something thats good yet not really expensive I can replace my LS1 with? Mb just another LS1? any ideas?

    well you could go with another LS1 but why not just rebuld your current engine? Also remember that stock trans will only take so much hp and tq

    you are right,but i linked to the crate engine because op has a 98 so i figured he did not have the ls6 intake.i am deciding between to ls6 long block and crate engine.pros and cons for both.

    The C6Z06 makes that motor what it is.

    For $9K....you can build a 402/408 motor that will make 500RWHP, get 22-25MPG on the highway, and then add nitrous if you want for another 150RWHP and $1200.
    So....650RWHP while spending less than the whole LS7.

    agree with mr.luos. ls6 crate motor..$5000 405 hp....ls7 crate motor..$13,000 505 hp.

    umm 6.0 outta a truck with stock crank new rods and bored over 30 and built for spray cheep fast and easy to get a hold of and do it how ever u want for under 5k

    yeah like mentioned, definitely go with a 6L iron block. LQ9 or LQ4. A short block can be had for under 1k easily.
