2000 Trans-Am- 2007 Silverado 2500HD LTZ
What makes it an NHRA edition Trans Am?
I was just curious if there's anything besides cosmetic doo-dad's that make it the "NHRA" package. I know the WS6, Formula, and Firehawk packages. Is it kinda like anniversery edition or bandit edition type thing? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Reason being, I'm looking at one right now in New York. It's on ebay. So essentially, the only thing the NHRA option forced you to have was the optional 3.23 (A4) rear gear. The AL driveshaft was part of that option (all 3.23-geared A4 cars have AL shaft), and ALL M6 cars get the 3.43 gear w/ AL shaft. Polished chrome rims w/ upgraded tires and steering cooler (by then) was optional otherwise as well. So above the cost of those options (3.23, rims/tires, cooler) seperately, what did that NHRA decal cost?

Yeah, I know, it was the only thing actually unique (couldn't get any other way than w/ the NHRA option) in the "NHRA package". Everything else in the package was available seperately as individual options (i.e: NOT unique to the NHRA package). So my question is, did the NHRA "package price" cost more or less than those included options priced seperately? If it cost less, then the package was a good deal and you got the decal thrown in for no extra cost. If it cost more, then that decal ended up costing you....... how much?
Just curious because I haven't looked at option prices lately.

I guess this isn't the car for me than, because I'm going to be modifying/replacing some of the components that make it the "NHRA" package. I do like the decals though. I guess it was done by Pontiac in hopes of creating a collectors car? Reguardless thank you everyone for your input.

You guys are missing one thing. Every NHRA Editon has a 1SH code on the door build sticker. Just like the RPO codes on chevys. A true NHRA edition has the 1SH code on the build sheet and sticker. You can't forge that and it matters not if it has badges or if it doesn't. Badges were placed by the dealer on the 1SH code cars is my understanding. came with PS cooler, 3.88 gears, badge package. Very rare cars. And easily identifiable. Rarer than any anniversary edition due to the low numbers produced. Mine for example is 1 of 46 convertible 1SH code cars produced in 2002. Very rare indeed considering 1000 yellow collector editions were produced.

I checked and the above post is correct. Rear end is the 3.43.

Was the NHRA Edition a one year only car?
