Red face what do you think of this one????

hi---i'm a newbie---i've been lurking the last couple of days just checking out the site. I've always dreamt of owning a TA and have been saving $$ for a while....now that the dream is feasible, i've been on the hunt for my car. Initially, I always thought i would get a black one---all black, but here in good ole massachusetts, TAa are pretty slim (i'm from tx--so its strange to have such a limited selection here)...in any case, I am starting to warm up to other colors. I found this one locally, but I am not an expert yet on these cars (i just love them)...so I was hoping that you guys (& gals) could provide input on the below? Thanks in advance! Rox

    1999 White TA WS6
    automatic, tan leather interior
    25K miles
    Black ZR-1 Wheels
Eibach pro kit springs and bilstein shocks
    Magnaflow exhaust and SLP lid
Has an flipscreen TV installed(but he is willing to take out and put back factory radio)
    Price is 16,500.....good/bad/ugly?

i dont think that i can post his pix of the car---or is it ok? Still trying to figure out what is allowed and not so much

    yeah--its growing on me

not that you are biased or anything since you have a white one!

i'm starting to like the white---its just hard because its a 180 from what i thought i always wanted!

i just need to work on negotiating down the price.....thats not the fun part....any tips when he starts spewing all kinds of things that he did to the car and how much it cost him? it makes my head spin because i can't really call him out that i know what he is talking about or for how much $ it really cost....i mean, i did my initial research to see how much each of those parts cost that he installed....but i still feel unprepared! any advice?

Thats a sweet looking car. The white looks especially good mixed with all the black on the wheels, stipes, and bumper. The $16,500 might be just a little bit high for the year, but if you pull blue book on him you should easily be able to get that knocked down at least a grand or more.

I am almost positive it didn't cost him $4,000.00 worth of parts and installs for that car. It is a beautiful car just tell him this is how much i have take it or leave it. if he says sorry no , then give it a couple of days and say you got a little more money. I personally wouldn't go more then $14,500.00 and i would print out a copy of the KBB price, and bring it with you good luck. And white is a great color!

its only worth as much as you are willing to pay I know this sounds dumb but that is the truth with the mods he has done really doesn't help the price unless it is exactly what you would have done either way you are the only one that needs to be happy with the car and the deal just decide what you are willing to pay and offer him 1000 less then you have a little room to go up if the first offer is too low he may tell you to take a hike good luck

also check the value on www.nadaguide.com that is what most banks and dealerships use in my area. Doesnt seem to bad due to the low mileage though. General rule to try and talk them down a little no matter what their asking price is though.

Price is maybe $2K too high in my opinion.

If it is your dream car though...what is $2K??

First thing I would do is get that front bumper painted back to white. Looks like a booger the way it is now.

You can say that again. I saw this car on Autotrader the other day, my first thought was "yuck".

I like the stripes though, but the bumper needs to go back to white.

I really like the T/A's in white, BTW.

And Roxy, I hear you about finding a decent T/A in MA. I've been looking for a month and a half, I still haven't found a nice one that isn't way overpriced.

ok---i just drove the car.....the condition of it is amazing....it is definitely well taken care of....i checked the door and it does have ws6 and ws9...so i know that it was factory ws6 to begin with.
    couple potential "issue"...maybe?

when driving it on the highway...the steering wheel vibrates...not side to side....but just small vibrations...i let go of steering wheel and the car continued straight, so it must not be alignment, right? to be honest, i have not driven many "sporty" cars to know if they all have the same issue with the steering wheel vibrations??? is it because the car was lowered/replaced springs with the eibach springs and the kind of tires that are on it???

if for some reason i need to "un-lower" the car...how hard is that to do? how much $$
the guy has all the stock parts that he replaced when he upgraded/lowered the car and is willing to give all the stock things to me...so i was jsut curious if anyone has "un-lowered" a car...how hard is it to do and how much $$

    thanks again for any advice...

Not sure if you have your heart set on a T/A, but check this one out:

    http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...000&cardist=74

This car is HOT, if I had the money I'd be all over it. Seems like a good price actually, low miles and Formula 'Hawks are RARE.

    My life is a
    Ben Stiller movie.

ask where he got the shocks from...if he said "sam strano" that's good. If he doesn't...ask if they have been revalved to accomedate the lowering springs...if he says no, tell him to take about a thousand off b/c you'll have to replace his shitty combination.

The small vibration at high speed is probably just a wheel thats out of balance, its not a big deal as long as the rim's not bent.

Yea its way easier to argue with dealerships than owners b/c dealerships don't have emotional ties to the vehicle. Owners always seem to think that every little mod done adds about 1000 to the overall price of the car

Like statted before, pay what you think its worth to you. If you pay more than you think its worth, and something goes wrong you will be pissed at yourself.
