I wave every once in a while, and usually don't get it returned.
I normally just do the Jeep wave, lift the one hand off the top of the steering wheel in a wave.
Normally I get them returned more when I'm in my Jeep, at least by other modded Jeeps. Most people driving stock Jeeps have no clue.
As a far as in the Bird, last time I got a wave was last year, I was taking it out for a drive on a particulary nice day toward the end of the winter, and a guy in a really nice white WS6 caught up to me on the highway, then slowed down to match my speed and gave me a big thumbs up.

Been drivin my 02 ramair since new and I ALWAYS wave, point or somehow acknowledge another t/a. Not always easy to see me though bc my tint is too dark. I try to double tap my brake lights as we all know we always look at the rearview when we pass by -- I usually get one back! Don't be a snob, just do something back.

Old hot rodders are more likely to wave or give the nod then most new vehicle owners or kids.

I got it...
Real quick you hold both hands over the top of the steering wheel, and palms flat and facing out toward the windshield, hook your thumbs together and wiggle your fingers.
Try it....Bird sign!

The headlight thing is actually a good idea. I've done it before but forgot about it.

As much of a problem as those headlight motors can be, I wouldn't want to be flipping them up just for the hell of it.

And besides that,,,,if someone is flashing headlights at me,,,,I'm going to think there is a cop ahead hiding somewhere,,,,not some car wave.
Guess you guys don't go back that far,,,,,but that's what headlight flashing means to most people.

Or if it's dusk time maybe your headlights aren't on.

Definitely! I've already rotated the gear on one side, so I use the headlights as little as possible.
As far as flashing lights for cops, I do that when I pass a speedtrap. Luckily there are still others that do this too, I actually probably would have gotten nailed a few weeks ago if it wasn't for someone flashing.

I got pulled over for doing this, by a state trooper. He let me go, he said he still felt bad about giving me a ticket a couple weeks prior in my 2nd gen bird.
I don't flash the lights anymore, not worth the hassel and figure if your going to speed then you should invest in a detector.
I always try to acknowledge another f body but alas I am old and slow and sometimes can't make it until we pass, then I look like a dip shit to the import driver who receives my gesture!
