Welcome to the world of depreciation. Try buying an older car and after you invest a bit in it, they only appreciate

Just keep it, pay it off eventually, and don't sell it for 20 years. You'll see that you get alot of money for it. Look at how much the 70 TA's are worth now, and we have the last generation of the bird.

Mines also only a Z28 though...so they sell for less then a SS or WS6. I'd never trade a vehicle in, they only give you a fraction of what it's worth. With sites like auto trader now a days, the hassle of selling a car isn't that bad either.

You just have to find a buyer willing to pay what you are asking, but never expect to get what you think the car is worth.

I totally understand how you feel. I think ours was somewhere around 10. But were close to that. Warranty put us over.

I would not bet that the 4th gens will fetch as much $ as some of the rarer cars like 1969 TA, 1970-71 H.O.'s or the SD1973-74 will fetch, my reason is that the earlier years had a variety of motor options (326-350-400-455) (H.O.455, SD-455, RAIII/VI 400 ) and the WS6 suspension package options, AC/Non-AC cars. For the '98's and up they are all the same base motor LS1 not much for rarity (although some 2001 and 2002 received the LS6 block rather than the LS1 block), would have been nice to have been able to ordered a car with a LS-6 motor from the Z-06 Corvette, now that would have been a rare and collectable car due to motor option.

Don't feel bad. Like I've seen in previous threads...don't go by KBB. They price them for less than they are worth. Besides...you can't really have a general one price fits all cars. If it is a clean, rare, special model car, and supply is low...then it's going to fetch more than what the book says. Just have fun with your car and worry about what its worth when you go to sell it

Don't worry too much, as you said its in Iowa. If the car is hard to find I'm sure there are other people in that area that would pay top dollar. Also, if someone lies on how much they pay for a car it will effect NADA and KBB for private sale.

Dealers generally take a trade at KBB and sell at NADA.

    Shit
Its amazing how fast these cars depreciate. My '95 Z28 was 13,300 back in '99 and now it is worth like 5,000. Oh well, it doesn't help that people know that these cars are fast and that the owners drive them fast.
