    under car neons

First, I dont need to hear how many people think neons are gay and belong on a honda. I got a cheap set of blue undercar neons and decided to throw them on my blue car. My question is where do you mount the rear one? I can sort of get it behind the bumper above the exhaust tips, but I dont know if it will get too hot. The ends are about 1 inch from the tips. Any suggestions?

Wish I could help with the question. I think under car neons look cool. I wouldn't put them on my car but I still think they look cool.

It shouldn't effect them It doesn't get that hot at the tips. If you worry put on some header tape on the tips of the lights.

For a photo shoot or a car show I wouldn't have to much gripe about them, but I know alot of our fbody brothers will want to flame you. Good luck.

i had them on my monte ss when i was 18. i took the plastic tube protector for the flourecent bulbs and just modified that, it worked great. easy to clean. for the back you could make or find a 90 degree bent piece of metal off the rear bumper, drill a few holes then wire tie them down.

i hope that makes sense. remember you don't want to be able to see the bars/tubes, just the light reflecting. if you are going all out. i took the 18 inch ones and put them on each side of the t top. looked cool at night when the tops were down and you pull up next to someone. lol.

all flames please send to pm's. if you need anything pm me.

You know...I think there is a place for accent lighting. Personally I would love to put a blue one and red one underneath my Sheriff Dept. vehicle, and turn them on when I turn on the rest of my red and blues... They actually reflect off the pavement well and it would be funny

I don't think it would get too hot to affect the lights but you could just wrap up your exhaust a little and that should fix it

We installed them on the heat shield under the gas tank I think. You just gotta be careful you don't go through anything...

I used to install them when I worked at a stereo shop. The exhaust tips shouldn't be a problem. I had mounted one tube about and inch or so from the tips of the muffler on a celica.

OP already knows the general opinion that most member have on neons so there's no point in flaming him. So instead people are being HELPFUL!! OMG!

I used leds in my ram air scoops. I'm not into the undercar kits on TA's but if that's what you like go for it. I have seen some horrible color combo's like red with bright yellow accents, not my thing but to each their own.

I am of the "general opinion of most members" variety, but as a mechanic I will say this:

However you mount them, make sure the wiring is securely up out of the way of the lift points, as well as the lights themselves. And I agree, you needn't worry about the heat from the exhaust tips.

This post wasn't really necessary either. It doesn't pertain to the original topic either.
