Turn signal problem fixed
I bet this is an all too familiar sight for a lot of you guys and girls:
I did a few searches here and people were saying it could be from a bad socket, so...
...yeah. Looks like an 80's college party gone bad. I got the Auto Zone part # from one of the members here and for less than $8 here's the new one I put in.

How hard was it to swap the two? I am not any good at spicing and stuff like that, just wondering.

clg82, I’ve got a few pics from the install showing where I cut and what I used to do the splice. I can Email them to you if you’d like.
stangslayer98, the part number is 85881. I went to Auto Zone, Advance Auto Parts, and NAPA and asked about a turn signal socket, and like you said they didn’t know what I was talking about! Later on I called Auto Zone with the part number and they found it within seconds.

Red- 1998 WS6 Trans Am
heh i replaced mine over a year ago i think cuz it was all messed up like that pic. it worked for a bit but i dunno, somethin else is screwed again. sometimes the right turn signal works but varies in its blinking speed. sometimes normal, sometimes like 5-10 seconds between each blink.
suppose it could be a relay which i haven't really looked into.
too many other screwed things... fixed driver door cuz sagging like ya wouldn't believe. cost $400 and now it's screwed a bit again. then transmission rebuilt for $800. so the turn signals got overlooked. now that it's summer, feel like fixing everything like turn signals, replacing A/C compressor, replace bout 4 speakers, radio display is out, one a/c vent is busted. sad, i know

Havoc S Could you post the pics or email them to me as well. I just keep putting bulbs in giving the deal the bird when I drive by. A holes charged me $120 to do it the first time and it went out 6 weeks later.

Thanks

DRLs get way hot. I would think that the design should have been better for these bulb bases. The Vette has the same deal, but more obvious signs of heat. Mine were corroded less and there was discoloration where the plastic turned brown. Is there an LED kit for these? Either that or disable the DRL feed. And if you replace the bulbs, don't forget the grease.
