    transmissions in airzona

hey everyone, im lookin to buy a 99-02 trans am within the next little while and I live in arizona. Does anyone live out here with an automatic? my last trans am went through transmissions about once a year because the mechanic said they're horrible at getting the tranny cooled down. Has anyone else experienced that?

I know lots of people with auto f-bodies. I've never heard of any problems related to cooling or the heat here.

who did you have do the installs? Overall 4l60e is a good tranny. I've never really heard any complaints. I'm a 6-speed guy though so I don't have 1st hand experience....i got alot of auto friends though

it was a stock tranny, i forget who installed it but they said that the f bodies have a hard time getting the auto tranny's cooled off. i live out near lake pleasant, and goin up north on 17 i think also had an effect on the trans from it shifting all the time in the mountains in the summer. I have an 02 vette, 6 speed and i havent had any probs at all

I live in the middle of the mojave desert and it get's 100+ here daily!! I have only gone through one transmission since i bought it 8 years ago and that is because of lack of maintenance on my part. Sounds to me like you need a new transmission guy!!!
