    Trans fluid

Its getting harder to find anything marked "DEXTRON III" anymore. Can I use the Castrol Transmax transmission fluid in my manual 6-speed transmission.

Yes, but only use Castrol Transmax High Mileage. This is a mineral " Dino " based fluid not synthetic which is exactly what you need. Because it is a high mileage fluid it has extra additives to keep seals fresh, clutches conditioned and prevents gumming. Do not use a synthetic fluid in a T-56 trans. You can use any Dex III fluid but a high mileage dino fluid is best. Castrol is a great brand but you can buy whatever brand high mileage trans fluid is on sale. I think Walmart (Shell) may have one that meets Dex III specs. 5 Qts. are needed.
My ride is a 2002 Camaro SS SLP #3296 with 30k, LTH, 3" Y, CME, Frost tune, K&N, ported TB, Blackwing lid, Bellows, MSD, Denso Iridium, and 85mm MAF, Bilsteins, Eibach springs, SLP strut brace, Adj. Panhard, TA Girdle, UMI, Pro 5.0, Nitto NT555
My wife has a 2004 GTO with the rare SAP, 18" wheels, K&N Cold Air System, MSD, Ported TB, Frost tune, Denso Iridium, Flowmaster cat-back, 3200 Yank, 75k

    Trans fluid MM6

According to the Factory repair manual page 7-28 pook 3, it takes 4.1 quarts, why do you think its 5? Also is the non-high milage stuff synthetic?

The last time I looked in the auto parts store they do not sell .1 qts. of trans fluid. My trans guy put in 4.5 and he said a little extra will not hurt the unit and it protects for static loss which is weepage. Look at the bottle to see if it is synthetic or synthetic blend.
