Trans Am given some positive publicity on CNN :)

Nice little news clip on American Musclecars and their future.

The CNN reporter apparently has a thing for the 2nd Gens. At the end of the report they ask him what his favorite muscle car is, and he says its the Bandit Trans Am.

It's nice to see reporters get the chance to be themselves for once. They're nothing more than salesmen, and unfortunately for the past couple years what sells has been bashing American muscle cars.

If anything good comes out of the death of the muscle car, it'll be the fact that news of it will sell and maybe they'll get a decent sendoff. Or at least a good memorial.

Muscle cars wont die. They will come back over time, but I do fear the days of displacement are DONE.

Props to CNN and that reporter

Never is a long time. I thought the same thing in 1972 when the insurance industry and emissions rules killed the first run of muscle cars. Over time, they came back and were probably better cars (handled better, stopped better, etc.) than they were in the sixties and early seventies. There wasn't the big displacement race but the cars made up for it by getting more hp from smaller engines.

I no this is a little off topic but i saw one in a T.I. video yesterday and thought about it when i saw this post. I just thought it was amazing how a 2002 car is being put in a 2009 video still!!!!!!

here is a link for the vid

it's at 1:10 in the video ( not much of a fan of the song but it's ok b/c of the t/a!! )

Can you really have a muscle car without some decent displacement? One of the things that appears in my mind when I think muscle is a picture of a fairly sized v8.

I can, the GNX is certainly worthy of the muscle car brand but its a v6 turbo.

True, but I still think thats a niche of a muscle car.... I wouldn't be able to fathom camaro's,firebird's mustang's, etc. without a v8.

Don't forget the fastest 89 Firebird was using the turbocharged Buick V6. It's supposed to be one of the fastest stock Firebirds of all time.
