    Traction control on/off

Is there anyway to turn the TC on or off without the switch. When i bought the car someone had replaces the center console piece and disconnected the TC switch and threw it out. I know its on right now because the light will come on if i start losing traction. Anyway to turn it off?

I am guessing there should be a fuse for it.

If you can locate the wires, you could wire in a new switch.

This would be my recommendation. The system always defaults to "on" when you start the car. I almost want to say that it is a momentary switch and not an actual toggle -- been a while since I used mine though. If the OP needs a wiring diagram, let me know.

i'd try to get rid of that junk... the traction control (or lack of) in our cars pisses me off enough that i could punch an elderly person...

You can buy an electronic box for around $60 that reverses the function of the system. It defaults to "off" rather than "on" when you start the car.

I remember looking on a sight and someone was selling the switch for something like $30. I look through my history and see if I can remember where I saw it.

    Just want to clarify
Are you seeing a Traction control light of does the light say Low Trac.
Because they are not the same.
Easy way to tell is how many cables come off your throttle body ?
If it's one and it routes to a coupler behind the battery then you have TCS.
If you have two (throttle and cruise) and they both appear to go back to the firewall then you DO NOT have TCS.

I have that...and love it. Traction control is much less annoying when it operates like you want it.

Takes about one embarrassing failed attempt at a burnout per year and that is all I need for my annual reminder to turn the damn switch off.

BTW: Go take a look at the True Trac thread and see if you can figure out the issue... I'm stumped.

Well then you now know you do not have Traction Control.
    Mine is the same way.

If your meaning is the self induced kind I totally agree.

You do not have the TCS then, I have my TCS unplugged and the "low trac" light will come on at occasions too.
When I did have the TCS active, it will not let you do burnouts, it cuts the power to the wheels as soon as the wheels start to slip.

Yep, in my opinion its bad for everything unless you do not know how to control a skid. The first thing I would do after starting the car was turning that thing off no matter what the weather conditions were. With it on, if you start to skid and then try to correct it, the TCS kicks in as well and then you end up over-correcting it causing the car to kick back in the opposite direction. Plus you end up looking like you cannot drive at all.

I love traction control. I'm a lazy driver.
