its an option... so the guages are probably all equipped with the light for it but if there is no button then the car does not have it

Actually, too bad you don't. In rain it comes in handy. Without it I spin all the time in the wet.

Actually, I believe all trans ams come with traction control. Those with the traction control button have the option of turning it off. Those without the button the traction control will always remain on.

No button no TC, '02 WS6, talking from experiance. All gage clusters are the same set up. When they do the inatial check/sweep all the "idiot" lights should/might come on in cluding the TCS light whether you have it or not.

i have it and im glad i do... keeps me out of trouble!
tires are not cheap for these cars, so i always keep it on, unless im purposely going to light em up, or if im racing (which i never do )

My brother has a 98 trans am and it has traction control, but no button to turn it off. It says so in the owners manual and there is a fuse labelled traction control in the box. You can stand on it and it won't spin. It will just launch with the nose about 3 feet in the air.

does it say it will pull the nose 3 feet in the air in the owners manual too? How about you show us under his hood where the traction control box is. Show us in the manual too.

Onebaddz, there is no reason to get shitty over this. I am just giving my experience here. Sometimes on a new model car, they do odd stuff for one year. Look at about any 68 gm car. I don't see why you don't believe me. There is a section in the owners manual dealing with traction control. What does the control box look like and where should it be? All I know is if you have over 300 horsepower and you floor it from a dead stop with no spin, there is something holding it back. On another note, why does t/c suck? It's pretty nice to get a good launch. The 16 and 17 inch tires are very expensive too. Doing burnouts is only cool if you're like 17.

If he can pull the nose three feet in the air than he has a LOT more than traction control keeping those wheels from spinning. If it's an automatic, it isn't unusual for it not to spin the tires from a dead stop, especially if it has 2.73s. As far as the box, it's by the battery, it's just a black box with some cables. Look at the throttle body, does it have one cable going to it for the throttle, or two -one for the throttle and one for the cruise control.

it will not pull the nose up at all, tcs reduces throttle position and pulses the rear brakes. Therefore you do not have 300 horses, you have much less. The traction controll isnt gonna make you pull wheelstands because there is no spin, it reduces power and actually kicks the gaspedal back at your foot.
