Total Scare!!!

Today, I decided to take the bird for a stroll. When I pulled up to the stop light, I realized I needed to turn right just up the road and I was in the middle lane. I decided to give the car a litle juice and she soared out of the hole. When I hit 3500 RPM, the engine shut down as if the TCS engaged. I thought I hit a puddle or something, so I switched off the TSC and hit the throttle. 3500 RPM and bogged down again. I was scratching my head cause I didn't have a light on. So....I called my friend, he is the expert.

We took the car for a ride with the data logger. It would do the same thing, but I wasn't throwing codes or anything. We were stumped, so we decided to clean the MAF to start with. Well, it was so dirtly and lots of small leaves and stuff. Not totally blocking, but maybe about 10%. But, when we decided to check the air filter....OMG!!! It was soaking wet!!! Not sure how, but I am assuming that when I washed the engine bay yesterday....I must have gotten water too close to the intake area. I had it wrapped, but just goes to show you can never be too safe.

So we cleaned the MAF and changed the air filter, now Im back to ripping stangs. Man, such a simple fix....but it scared the cr@p out of me.

Good thing it wasnt too major. Always sucks when you feel something noticeably wrong with your car.

what air filter? K&N or paper?

It was the paper one. I don't have a K&N, in fact after my car is painted I plan to go with the Volant system.
