    Thinking of painting my Bird...

Wanting something different. This is my third Black Trans Am. I like the two GTO colors Spice red and Impulse Blue. Electron Blue would also look pretty kickass I think. I also like the Dark Green color that came on the third gens... What do you guys think? My wheels are chrome Ruff Racing 278's so pretty much any color would work.

What does it cost to paint a car like ours? Just a rough price? I want to purchase a hood but would it not be better to get the hood and than go in all at once and get it all painted?

To get it done right (I am doing the prep work myself so some of the price is knocked off) I got a qoute of 1200$.

If you have chrome wheels you need a paint to shine with them. I'd go with the copper color of the vettes, or maybe a silver, or anything metallic...make sure they paint the door jams too. It'll cost you probably double but it'll look like crap if you dont.

I'm getting it done right when I do it. Going on a six month deployment and when I get back I will have the money for some stuff for my car

    My life is a
    Ben Stiller movie.

not at all a fan of green on race cars. I'd go with Electron Blue or stryker blue, even purple would look sweet

Have you modified the car in many ways? If not (and the mileage isn't very high), I say don't paint the whole thing. Resale value would decrease. A cool-looking compromise, I think, would be to just paint the hood in a different color, like with racing stripes.

I always thought that a WS6 painted Royal Sapphire Pearl would look nice. But I think if you could paint match the ZR-1 blue I'd take that. Course my dream is to have a Medium blue metallic trans am one day so I'm partial to the blue.

Does that include the door jams? If so, I can do body work and I may want to get a car or two done if they do a good job on yours.

Yeah it includes the door jambs. As long as I remove the plastic stuff for them. It is a guy I used to work for. He does awesome paint work. All of the stealerships in the area that need minor repairs send their cars to him.

I just got it. I'm not planning on selling it. I bought it to restore and work on myself(I am starting the ASE certification program next fall.) It currently has 121,XXX miles so I am not thinking the resale value will ever be that high. I got it cheap though and it is in great shape.
