Are these bad numbers?
I put my Trans Am on a Dyno-Jet Dyno this past weekend at my works car show and it made 280 HP and 313 Lbs. of Tq. Its a bone stock 1998 model with 172,000 miles. I was just wondering what you guys thought.

It is an auto, and its still the original trans. I didnt think that they were to bad considering the mileage. Im hoping to make over 325 next year with an exhaust, lid, MAF, Shift Kit, professional tune, maybe intake and throttle body.

My life is a- Ben Stiller movie.
I would be pissed if that was my car. I've never heard of an LS1 with such a low HP.

Bone stock 98, 170k and running threw an auto trans... and you'd be pissed?

Sounds about right. A stocker with an auto trans and 170,000 miles to boot??? 280 at the wheels is nothing to sneeze at.
Keep in mind dyno's are simply a tuning tool, they all vary from one to the next.

Funny how no no one mentioned the impressive 313 lbs of tq, I dont give a damn about the hp # when you are putting down that amount of tq stock on a older car

I think with a dyno tune and slp air lid you should be close to 300HP. If I remember right I picked up about 15HP with the tune, lose the torque management on the shifts and a lower thermostat with reset fan temps! It will feel like a completely different car!
