Is there a certain way to race with an a4(like break tourque a little)
Or do you just nail it?

Just try both ways and see which works best for you. I tend to brake the car a little and more or less roll into it. On the street traction is a premium and it takes finesse and practice to get the car on that ragged edge of breaking loose. If I hammer it the car instantly lights the Nitto's on fire. Are you running a stock convertor and what type of tire?

As Orion said, try both ways and see which turns out better for you. I found when I race I get better times when I just slam the throttle from idle versus reving it up and then punching it.
