my bird had the same problem. the taillight gets moisture in them(not sure how cuz they seal up pretty tight) and it causes the reflective finish on the inside of the taillight to turn black or corrode i guess. i just got some new mirror trim tape and just start puttin a new mirror finish the best i could on the inside of the taillight its a pain to stick it in the little hole for your bulbs and then spread it flat but i think its the only way. it helped but its still not perfect . . i dont think the lenses will come off the tailight without breakin it.

I haven't done it myself, but you can use an exacto knife and separate the lense from the housing. Then use a reflective paint on the inside, after cleaning and prep of course, then glue it back on.
Someone on here did it before and made his tails look a lot brighter than they were.
I'll see if I can find his post.

Didn't take as long as I thought it would to find the thread.

you can try to seperate the lenses . . i tried and started to crack the housing so i quit. but you may have more patience than me! also after you do what youre goin to do to them . . . i drilled small holes(maybe 1/8") in the bottoms of each light cavity (the lowest spots on your taillight housings ) to release any moisture that gets into your taillights. i haven't noticed any moisture since.

UPDATE: I tried to get my light apart and I broke it, I ordered a new one. But just wanted to say that it definitly was a moisture problem. the inside of the old light was ALL black. All the shiney finish was gone.

I got mine apart and repainted the inside with reflective paint. Had to go slow and use a heat gun but no cracks. I figured if they did crack I needed new ones anyway.
