Sun shade
Anyone have a problem with a window sun shade. My dash was fine until I put one in my window, cracked the same day.

Sounds like you were a few years too late in starting to use the sun shade
On the other hand if you were using a shiny reflective one and there was a gap somewhere it is possible that you got a reflection on the dash that created a hot spot. A long shot but I suppose it is possible.

I keep one in every car, and I've used them for years. Never had a problem with cracking a dash. Sounds like coincidence to me.

I use one during summer...rarely ever use one during winter. I've never had one cause any issues *knock on wood*...I do recommend cleaning your dash with something that has UV protectants in it every time you clean your car...im a firm believer in those. I think over time it'll save a lottttttttt of money...

On second thought it could also be that your dash was already very brittle and when you were putting the shade up or taking it down you accidentally put enough pressure on the dash to crack it. The plastic on these things really does deteriorate badly when left in the sun for a few years.

Extremely unlikely that the sun shade caused the dash to crack. More likely that the dash was on the verge of cracking the day you first used your sun shade. How old is your car? How much exposure to the sun has your dash had? Most all of its years was it parked outside?

Sunshades won't cause it to crack it saves them. I have bought a custom fit one for all the cars I have owned since moving from New England. I lived in FL and now Houston and the sunshade kept my 98 looking great and I even had one on my 09 cobalt as and just got on for my 13 Ram. I recommend staying away from the cheap auto parts stores ones that leave some exposed spots and you can google or I use eBay and paid $30/ each for custom fit. It covers my TA dash end to end and it's thick not flimsy. Also so good dash protectant every car wash here in TX helps
