Imho best to have the system vaccumed out too. This gets out any debris and lubricant trapped in the system or residual refrigerant (which you prolly don't have anymore left *don't bet on it tho*) in the lines and so forth.. If you do deside to charge the system yourself, I can't stress enough to wear eye protection.. R134a etc, can blind you instantly if it sprays into your eyes...

i have a small leak guys its taken 2 and a half months for it to leak out to the point that the AC isnt cool anymore.. I live in florida where its hot as shit and my car is black with black leather and no AC absolutely sucks. Its a temp thing like i stated before so its really not a waste for 20 dollars. Now if it was a gaping hole the size of a quarter then there would be no point in charging it. Smittro thanks for the advice on the eyewear i didnt know that but its too late now lol.

i have no A/c for the past 2 summers. last summer i drove down to Alabama and Georgia, and this year temps in michigan have got to be high 90s with high humidity ... i think you could survive a few days without it

Sounds like you need the "285" AC system until you can fix it right.

2 out of our 3 GM vehicles use this system; can't stress it enough. I gotta wonder though why an '04 Silverado 2500HD would need 5 recharges at 120K? (one at 30K, 50K, 70K (dead blower motor at this point too), 90K.. 120K and no confirmed leaks even with UV and [geeklisp]super radioactive dye penetrant stuffs[/geeklisp])

    There's also the 345 system.

3 windows down, 45mph. GMC 3500HD Diesel Dump. Windshield has NO seal left so if we clean it; we get drenched in dripping windshield slop. Fan is actually blowing hot air now (AC reverted to aux heater a year ago) o_O.
