Stock WS6 y pipe ?
I was under the car yesterday to make sure everything on the exhaust was not welded together as I am thinking of headers.
My question is I saw a photo I think of a Pacesetter y pipe and it had A large section on the drivers side that was kinda flat.
The y pipe on my car looks about the same.
Does anyone have a photo of the 2 together.
The car had a after market 3" cat back on it and it has a flo pro muffler.Last edited by slikws6; 07-01-2008 at 05:28 AM. Reason: wrong info

the stock y pipe does have somewhat of an oval shape to the drivers side and if im not mistaken its also like that on the passengers side.

The factory Y pipe does have a semi flattened area that is for clearance reasons. The factory claims that it does not affect flow characteristics, even though it sure looks like it would when you look at it. Most aftermarket ones are just round and tend to lower your ground clearance somewhat. I have a Random Tech Y on mine, and it definitely is lower than the stock Y pipe.

yea my ss has stock y pipe. the drivers side is flat and passenger side isn't. im not for sure but i think it has something to do with clearance issues.

if your going to cut it off make sure you research what y pipe your going to get. i know for sure that QTP's electric cutout y pipe could have been made alot better. it will scrape on everything and eventually start tearing your exhaust all apart. i went over some train tracks on the way to the drag strip and the drivers side caught the edge of the train track and bent the drivers side part of the y pipe all the way the opposite direction. and i have been battling with this thing ever since. make sure you want it for sure before you go welding it on to your headers. thats also another reason i have problems with it because i didnt weld it but im planning on rebuilding the y pipe here in about a month anyways. you definatly want to look at how much clearance you have espessially if you have a lowered car. i would be draging that pipe everywhere if i did that. so in other words -75 on the QTP ORY
