    STOCK T/A..What Mods First???

I just bought my fourth T/A and plan on actually keeping this one. I have kept all of them stock and am ready to start to mod this one. I am not car savvy at all. I will have about an extra $1000 after buying the car. The car is an 02 T/A WS6 M6. It is my daily driver except for the GSXR which I am trying to sell. Where should I start and what should I start with?

SLP cold air intake, and maybe a new throttle body would be a good start. Or if you want to dump the whole $1000 at once you could do a new exhaust system.

Dont forget you want to put some Sub-frame connectors on there to keep that thing from twisting and forming gaps in the body, cracked door panels, leaking t-tops and will also help it launch better.

What kind of price am I looking at for all this? I don't mind to spend all of it and in fact I want to. What brand of parts should I be looking for?

Well it is a M6 so it should have 3.42s. What I would spend my money on is,
    SLP Lid
    SLP smooth Bellows
    Amsoil air filter
Cat back exhaust (Magnaflow or SLP loudmouth 2)
    Gears 4.10 or 3.73
    Mail order tune from Frost.
That should put you at right about $1000 maybe a little over. Unless you can find some of the stuff used.

long tubes- pacesetter shipped to your door are like 280
cutout- 40 bucks or so plus gotta get it welded
    lid- 50 bucks
port TB- depends on if you know a friend that can do it.. if not send someone yours and like 50 bucks and you have one..
short throw shifter- think you can get them for like 80 bucks or so right now, im not an M6 guys so.....
tune or gears- 300-450 depending on how much your tuner charges.. thats dyno time and all... gears installed should be about 300..

the only thing that i would highly suggest buying new are the gears and maybe the headers.. other than that, buy used.. i say that but my gears are used and they work just fine.. i bought my 410s for 75 bucks and got them installed for 140 bucks..

if you do everything i listed.. including the gears and the tune.. you should be right at 1200 bucks... granted you pick up a wrench for everything but the gears.. take away the gears or tune and your right under your mark at 900 bucks..

dont get slp long tubes.. get pacesetters.. they are cheap, they fit in VERY easily and you can go ahead and get some coated ones so they last.. just my .02....

Why do you like Pacesetter headers better than SLP?

there were several report of fitment issues with thier headers as well as premature corrosion... maybe they improved them or fixed them but still they are to expensive for what they are... pacesetters will give you the same gains for a far better price...

    crombie02,

Here’s a couple easy and cost effective suggestions for your application.

Check out this quote from a satisfied customer:

“The air filter seems to be a very worthwhile improvement. Still too early to tell, but I feel that the performance and driveability of the car is better with the Amsoil filter than the K&N. I'll keep you posted. Oil changes coming up in the next couple of weeks too!” – LS1.com member: jad628

jad628 purchased the Amsoil #EAA83 OE replacement Air filter and #EAO32 Oil filter for his 1999 CAMARO Z28 M6. These are the same air and oil filter applications for your 2002 T/A.

Also, while modifying your T/A, don’t overlook quality motor/trans/gear lubricants.
