Stock to Ram Air conversion
I'm converting my stock formula to ram air. What will I need to do besides the air box? Any and all information will be helpful and greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I'm going with the OEM hood. This is the begining of upgrades and performance.

Just to go from stock to ram air, the only difference is the hood and the lower portion of the air box which creates a larger gap for air induction.
I have a WS-9 with a OEM WS-6 hood....which I love. I decided to skip the lower box mod due to the cost. No one wants to part with it unless their car is a total loss. A new one costs about $170 plus shipping....give or take a few bucks. For that price, I am planning to get the Volant induction. They are on sale at jegs until Christmas for $257. It looks cool and supposed to give a few more HP than the stock ram air box unless it has a lid which is about the same.

Not to put a damper on your plans but It's common knowledge that adding a Ram Air Hood will do more for appearence then it will for performance. Sealing the hood to the Airbox and removing the baffles might gain you 3HP at 100+ mph but that's the best you can hope for.

muteki,9T8W66,
Thanks for your responses. This is a start and I was told that Ram Air produced a few extra horses however it does look better. What exhaust would you recommend?
Thanks,
Al

Corsa or GMMP or Custom Dual Exhaust with Flowmaster 10 Series

Most exhaust will give you same performance increses. You'll still be pushing the exhaust throught the same cats and ehaust manifold. It depends more on the price you want to pay, and the sound you want to get out of it. If you want smooth with a nice rumble I like Borla. If you want loud and obnoxious(like my car) go with a SLP LM2.

These guys like the top of the line stuff, I do too, but I don't like to pay top dollar. So, I have been looking around for great deals, that produce just as much hp, but without the cost. The products they are recommending are great items, but quite costly. The I tems I am recommending will give you the same HP, but at half the cost.
Pacsetter ceramic long tube headers (catalyst delete) ~$450
TSP or ORY 3" Y-Pipe ~200
Magnaflow 3" catback with single tip dual exhaust ~450
For about $1,100 brand new you would have an awesome setup...where as Borla exhaust will be around $850 and Corsa would be about $1,100 without LTH or Y-Pipe. Keep in mind with a catalyst delete you would need to program out the 02 sensors to keep from getting codes thrown on the dash.
And with all the money your saved, you can treat yourself to an electric cutout ~$200 and still be under what you would have spent on all that high end stuff.
Here is a link to know what it would sound like, keep in mind if you have the cutout, you can make it louder if you like.
