Not all of the 2002 fbodies had the LS6 block.

I have one Here are some tell tale signs. Look on the top of the block behind the water pump kin of underneath the TB on the passenger side. If you see a bullseye casting mark, you have an ls1. I you have none, you have an LS6. If you can look on the back of the block underneath the rear drivers side head and see the last four digits of 1168, you definately have an LS6

01 - 02 some got the LS6 blocks and blocks only because they temporarily shut down the LS1 block casting plants in Canada so a few got the LS6

all 01-02 came with a LS6 manifold...a low percentage of 01's have the LS6 block and i've heard around 25% of 02's have the LS6 block. I don't think anyone knows the exact figures...

I spent some time today to find out which block I have, and I don't see the bullseye casting. On the other hand I am having a hard time seeing the block underneath the rear drivers side head. All I see is exhaust manifold. Is the serial underneath the exhaust manifold? Anybody managed to take a photo?

By behind the head you mean the back of the block? Seems like it would be nearly impossible to see it next to the firewall.

i know a buddy of mine that has a 2002 WS6 and he has the ls6 block and intake. apparently they ran out of the ls1s closer to the end of the production of fbodies so they used the ls6 blocks to finish the last cars.
