    Steering wheel question?

Has anyone tried putting a 2nd generation Trans Am steering wheel and adaptor hub on a 4th generation car? I was thinking of it and don't really care about losing the airbag or redundant radio controls. The steering column looks virtually the same. I would probably get the new reproduction leather bandit edition one, re-dye it grey to match but need to know if it fits without modification.

Here's the thing sugar, your insurance company cares if you have your airbag or not.

I had put an aftermarket steering wheel in my old car, and I was ALWAYS paranoid if I got in an accident if the insurance company would cover my medical, they would have a case if the cars safety was compromised.

IMO don't touch it, unless it's for track or strip.

I understand your concern or rather the insurer's concerns, however my car only sees about 500 miles/year all in non-inclement weekend weather and I really don't like the look of the factory wheel. How can GM put a decent looking wheel in the GTO or even the Vibe for that matter and such a lousy looking hunk of plastic in ours. How about a compromise then, will the GTO wheel fit our cars?
