    squeak

Ive been having a squeaking noise for quite some while now. I changed by drive belt with no luck. Then I changed the idler pulley hoping this would stop the sqeaking and still no luck. Does anyone know what it can be?

Hard to tell... is it constant? Make any difference if the engine is cold or warm? Have you spun all your accessory drive pulleys and idler pulleys with the belt off to see if they make any noise or have an unusual feel?

Is it for sure a squeak? or a whine?

Could also be the air pump making noise if it is just on initial start up...

no its not constant. I thought i fixed it when i changed my idler pulley, but it starting squeaking again. I did spin my accessory drive pulley and my idler pulley when i changed it. It doesn't make a difference if the engine is cold or warm.

Shoot it with some belt dressing while the squeek is present and see if it goes away. That will tell you right away if the belt is causing the noise.

I have done that, but can it be the belt if it is new?

I bought a belt from autozone a while back and it squeaked like hell. I thought it was crazy because the belt never squeaked before i was just trying to do some preventative maintenance. So i went to O'reillys and bought a more expensive belt....it fixed the problem completely.

The Goodyear gatorback belt is the best squeak fixer belt out there.
