Spring cleaning
Car care 101 -- it took a lot of work to get our newest addition into shape. Everything looked pretty much original and with 71,000 miles, the undercarriage looked like it had not been cleaned since it left the factory. The wheel wells and suspension were pretty sad looking, but... after several evenings and a couple of weekends we went from this:
To this:
In addition to the cleanup -- also changed trans fluid and filter; replaced rear trans seal; replaced rear u-joint; flushed cooling system and replaced all hoses; new 180 degree thermostat; recalibrated fan settings; new belts; new sway bar bushings; sanded and polished curb rash on rims; and replaced the fuel filter. By far, the most challenging maintenance item was replacing the heater hose assembly -- lots of time and head scratching on that puzzle. Time to reinstate full coverage and go for the first ride of the season!

Awesome! Looks great!
I did a little cleaning while I had my rim and wheel well off to take out the air pump but not as thorough as you. I need to take the time and really clean everything.
What paint did you use for the center of the break rotor and spindle arm? What parts did you take off?

Thank you! The hub, rotor and bearing support are all POR -- degrease, wire brush and painted with a small foam brush. The upper and lower control arms and sway bar are Krylon semi-gloss black. The caliper is High Temp Cast Blast.
The only parts removed were the sway bar, caliper bracket, and ABS harness. I also removed the wheel well liner and cleaned out the front and rear well cavities.

My life is a- Ben Stiller movie.
Looks really good and further pisses me off that GM barely painted the cars structural parts. I mean, even the firewall is hardly painted

I'll take that as a compliment! I am somewhat of a "clean freak" and looking at all the rusty suspension parts just got to me. Probably end up on medication sooner or later...
