I finally scored an LS1 motor and heads for (get this!) $525!!! I had it shipped in from Nebraska and have started the tear down and rebuild. It came with a set of 9k mile 241 heads!!! The heads were from a different car, but they're still factory heads, so they'll work.

We got in and opened it up and found flat-top Mahle aluminum pistons, too!!!! The wrist pins are shot and one of the piston heads hit a valve, but it didn't bust it, so I think we might be good to go. The rings are even beautiful and the rotating assembly turns perfectly with no play! I've still got a lot of parts to get (intake, oil pump, etc.), but this is gonna turn out to be a really nice motor once it's all said and done!

I do know that the motor had nitrous on it...you'll see that for yourself.

The heads...

I haven't cleaned these up yet, but they don't need much with 9k miles!

New cam bearings...

The cylinders look good...

Journals don't need more than a little emery cloth...

Before...

During...and still not finished...

After...and why the motor was apart...

Nitrous??

So let the fun begin! I have to wait for funding from Slowbama before I can get my cam and other things. Getting REALLY tired of waiting, but it'll be worth it to have my Lacey on the road!
