Rev limiter
i am bouncing off of the rev limiter an wondering if theres anything about it that i can do, other than move it back...
when i use 93 i bounce off of it harder and then some octane boost then it is even more.....it just sits there and hangs on the rev limiter for a couple seconds...
any reply would help...
thanks

If it's an A4 I have the same problem, i Just had the transmission rebuilt, with a different clutch pack and a shift kit. and when ever i get into 4 th gear and am really getting on it, it bounces off the rev limiter. The guy that rebuilt the transmission said that I needed to get the shift points recalibrated, since the shift kit and new 9 clutch pack. I think i have heard that the a4 transmissions shift points are electonically controlled by the computer. is this true and if i get it re calibrated will it fix the problem?

yea im a A4...obvouisly id know when to shift
anyway,
if i have it in drive is when i bounces off
if i shift by hand going from 1st to 2nd it doesnt do it because i can shift before it gets there but then at 2nd to 3rd even if i put it in 3rd at 3500 it will wait till 5800 to shift and then it just rides the limiter...
clg82 - - if u are an auto i have a question...when i am on it hard. i never get to fourth ill run it out at 155 in 3rd as long as im on it my overdrive never kicks in....
i just got a new transmisson...wanting a shift kit

Bone stock eh? I figured maybe you had a few mods creating an issue with shifting.
Line pressure issue?? A tune may be able to fix that.

i live in southern california and am planning on getting a full dyno tune, i plan on getting gears installed the same time, so that is why i am getting the tune, to also fix my shift points as well. never heard of the boost valve, even when i was bone stock, i was beating ws6's. I ran 13.2 bone stock at route 66 raceway in illinois. i have heard that some trans ams came off of the factory line faster then others, not sure how much truth there is to that maybe someone else can answer that. I would think you would be able to break it loose in second or at least hear a chirp , and i don't understand why you would have shifting issues if you are bone stock. p.s. make sure that traction control is turned off.

a4 2.73
i dunno whether the issue is that i have ran the hell outa my car..
but even when i got it i seem along way from rubber in second.
but there is a "boost valve" ive seen, that raises line pressure i dunno if it would benifit or not...
i want mods..but im 16 and parents wont let me..
im thinking gears if i can get some money saved up moms to dumb to know the diffrence.lol

SLP Lid and Drop in KN... would actually be something they wouldn't even notice... unless they frequently look under your hood to scope for Mods

when you leave it in drive and just get on it and not shift manually does it do it as well? also how can you tell if you have 3.23 or 2.73?
-
10-08-2007, 04:05 PM #18
there's a Door Code... but there's 2 other ways... #1... the 3.23 should do 60mph at around 1700rpm (atleast mine does)... and 70 at around 2000rpm...
#2 also if you look underneath and see a rusty steel driveshaft...then that's the 2.73s... cause the 3.23's came with an Aluminum Driveshaft...that always stays very nice...
