Repainting my 02, what to do?

OK, im planning on repainting my '02 ws6, its currently pewter, and i love the color cuz i dont see it very often, but the clear coat is peeling off so i figure why not paint it how i want it? i've wanted a black trans am, but i like the pewter too, so

either repaint it the pewter with black bird on the hood and black overlays on the Trans am decals etc

or paint it black cherry (gloss black with red metallic flake) with red bird on the hood and red overlays.

also, putting on a 4in cowl from VFN fiberglass.

    what do y'all think??

Hmm you're going with a bird on the hood... I've seen pewter with black bird, I know how that looks and I like it. I wanna search around and see if I can see the color you're talking about, I don't think I've seen it. Certainly haven't seen a black one with a red bird, I bet that would look sweet if you like the bird look...

My initial vote is for the black with red, just because I think it would be a rarer/flashier color combo...

Im in the same boat as you want a black or custom colored T/A but am having a hard time giving up the pewter I rarely see it here except for on Camaros. In fact even with all the T/As in the Triad ive only seen one other Pewter WS6. But ive come to the decision to either buy a black or common colored T/A if i ever want to do the custom and leave my T/A in the stock color I just love it too much get rid of it. But i do have the black overlays on my bird, door lettering and the Pontiac on the back. With the black Ceta wheels I have they accent the car just right imo.

Plus ive owned several black cars and the Pewter color is so much easier to keep clean.

Exactly what i was gonna suggest. Here is mine but mine is silver but hey silver and pewter fool people sometimes I also plan to get the Trans Am black overlays and the rear Pontiac fill in in black too.

I would suggest to not do the cowl hood The Ram Air hood flows perfect with the lines of the car already

these ceta/tbar mods look really good, and the cowl hood im lookin at is the same ram air scoops only 4 inches tall and actually looks really good.

    go to

    http://vfnfiberglass.com/site.htm

to see the hoods, they have a good variety for fbodys and a lot of others.
the one you see on the page is a 5inch extended to windshield hood, not quite what im gettin but you'll get the idea

will save a lot of time and money keeping it pewter simply for all the trim that needs to be painted for a color change, but if you have the time and money go with the black cherry, it will be fairly unique!

That's ok -- it's good every now and then to see an older thread brought back to life.
