    Rear main seal

An idea for the rear main seal. If the cover alignment is important and you dont want to par $450 for the kent-moore tool, why not leave the cover, pick out the seal and press in the new seal. The guy on the clutch replacement video (you tube) does it this way.

No reason to take out the cover if you don't have to. I didn't have a choice my metal cover was leaking, the kit works great though

Those Kent-moore tools are serious $$$. Wish harbor freight would start popping those out. LOL

There was a post a while back about the new GM rear mail seals being different from the originals, they said the lip faced the transmission(dont see how that would work) and you dont need the tool to install the seal. Anyone know about that change?

Yeah people were installing them wrong causing them to leak
I would hate to do it w/o a tool, and thankfully my rear main cover with gasket was in the ballpark of $40.

    tool

Sure the whole assembly is good to keep the seal from rolling BUT if you dont have J41476 to make sure the cover hole is concenric with the crank it cause HUGE problems.
